You'll Be the Death of Me!
She wore her typical tank top and shorts, but the top, a soft gray color with
a Mariners logo on it, molded to her lush curves enticingly.   He tore his gaze
away, focusing instead on a slim cobweb hanging in the corner.
“Oh, you’re awake,” she said, stopping in the doorway.
Jay closed his eyes, futilely trying to get his roiling blood pressure under
control. Allison in tight shorts and top could cause any man heart failure, he
decided. He definitely suffered from palpitations just from looking at her.
What was wrong with him? He never reacted to any woman the way he had
with Allison. But something about her―her smile, her personality―pulled at
his very soul.
It bothered the hell out of him.
But hell suddenly got hotter when he felt the bed sag beside him. Her body
heat pervaded his senses; she smelled of raspberries and sunshine and
woman. He stifled a moan, but he must have grimaced.
“You’re in pain.” Allison’s cool hand touched his forehead. The contact
sent shockwaves of desire through him. His breath charred his throat as it
escaped. His hand jerked up to cover hers, intending to pull it away. He
couldn’t take anymore.
But her fingers fit against his like they were meant to be there. Her
smooth, petal-soft skin became an instant addiction.
Boldness filled him, something he usually didn’t experience with a woman.
In the past, he’d bide his time, wait a while until he could feel out a woman’s
motives. But with Allison, he felt himself pulled into her, could sense how
without deception she was. Her very lack of airs added to her sensuality.
Almost without thought, he let his thumb curve around her palm, taking
control of the moment.
He slid her hand down his cheek, settling it against his lips. Without
thought, he tasted her warm, smooth flesh, relishing in his effect on her when
her fingers tweaked in reaction. But she didn’t pull away. He took that as
encouragement and pulled one succulent fingertip into his mouth.
Her gasp sent shivers through his groin. Blood rushed downward, filling him
with decadent thoughts about Allison and her soft, sweet curves.
The pain in his knee, the fuzziness in his head, melted away at the thought
of touching her further, of exploring this strange connection he felt with her.
She tried to pull her hand free, but he held her firmly. Stealing a glance at
her, he saw her eyelids flutter shut, then open partially to show her eyes
rolling upwards in rapt pleasure. He’d never seen anything sexier, more
enticing, more fulfilling.
How much better would kissing her mouth be? He had to find out.
He moved his lips to the inside of her wrist, loving the slightly salty, yet
sweet, taste of her skin. She felt so soft, like smooth silk. He nibbled slightly
and felt her pulse leap beneath his mouth. Upwards, onward to her elbow,
then her shoulder, then the base of her neck.
She breathed his name, a sexy, throaty sound that made him want her to
repeat it. He hurried now, longing for the taste and feel of her mouth on his.
Her hands, free of his strong hold, traveled up into his hair, pulling his head
toward her. He could feel her heart pounding. It only matched his own―
uneven, thudding, sending shock waves through his system.
He nipped her bottom lip before sucking it in, then covered her mouth with
his own.
Heaven. Pure, sweet heaven. He drank in her essence, filling himself with
the taste, sight and sound of her, but it still wasn’t enough. He wanted more.
He wanted all of her.
