I'm a bit of a recluse - I spend most of my time at my day job, with my family, or in front of the computer, writing. Last Friday, I had the chance to snag some tickets for arena football. actually, I pouted, because I've been wanting to go to a game for over a year, but they're usually sold out, and some coworkers of mine had given away their tickets without giving me a chance to snag them. After loudly pouting, one of the guilty party found another season ticket holder who wasn't planning on using her tickets, and I finally got my chance to go to a game.
Being single and currently not dating anyone, I had to then finagle a companion. My dear friend, Aaron, stepped up. We went fancy all the way - paid for in-lot parking.bought kettle corn, I even sprang for the pop (hey, I asked so it's up to me to provide the snacks), what more can you ask?
The game? Very fast-paced and a lot of fun. I love hockey, adore baseball, not a big fan of regular football, but arena football is a different animal, with the field about half the size length and widthwise, and no out of bounds - unless the player flips over the wall. Our team, the Shock, scored over 60 points, so you can see that it moves at a rapid pace.
I think I'm hooked.
Afterward, we went to my folks' house for pizza. Now, Aaron has a history with my dad. Aaron helped me move (he volunteered, no whining involved in THAT favor), and in the process of helping me, he hit my parents' house with the rental truck. So, every time he sees my folks, he's teased about that one tiny (tiny, as in it only cracked one beam and bent back one miniscule corner of the roof) little incident. Aaron, being a smart guy, now introduces himself to others, in front of my folks, as the guy who smacked the house. Makes for an interesting evening.
Afterward (and by the way, my brothers ate all the pizza before we arrived), we went to a nightclub and played some pool. And for those of you who know my skill with the pool cue, sit dow because I won!!! Okay, there were six games, and I only won one, but still!!!
