Weddings, anniversaries, etc.
Life has been insane lately, and today I'm hoping it will calm down.
First is Solomon David. I'm going to do a second blog entry about my little great-nephew.
Second was my parents' 50th anniversary. My brothers and I gave thema family banquet at a local restaurant, modeled after a wedding reception. There was cake, there was a toast, a present and lots of great stories. Because one brother is involved with his sick grandson, Solomon, and the other brother is in Seattle, it fell upon me to put this together. That meant the dinner menu, the decorations, the present, the flowers, the set-up, the tear-down.
And to make it more special, this dinner occured on the 24th of February. The actual anniversary is on the 1st of March, so part of their present was a fancy dinner out. The main part: a limousine ride. This was noordinary limo. This was a 1933 Packard limo! My dad's still going on about that one. Then off to the best restaurant in town for a fancy dinner. Teh restarurant, warned ahead of time, gave them a private corner of the restaurant and even went as far as to spread rose petals on their table. I'm so touched that they took such good care of my folks.
Yesterday, my daughter, Cara, got married. As the mother, I was gently persuaded to provide all the flowers (about $300 of fakes), the candles, the alcohol, vases, the pillow (I actually made that beast, since my daughter couldn't find one she liked), and other various touches. Then, at the last moment, my neice, who was to take all the photographs, bowed out, and I was roped in. So not only did I have to help set up the church, I had the fun job (actually, I HATE being a wedding photographer) of running two cameras during the ceremony.
But the wedding was lovely, and my daughter's happy, so that's all that matters. Mom-stress doesn't count at all. LOL
Today, all I need to do is go pick up the pictures, take my son out to the valley to see his grandmother, and get some editing done. Quiet day - I need that.
