Welcome to my world
An online diary of my life, plus a place where we can all share.
New contest!

Okay, I need some help, and I’ve decided to have some fun with it.  In my current WIP (work in process) Pretend You Don't Care, Julia’s boss’ mother is named Lydia.  Well, if you’ve read Pretend You Love Me, you know that Cal’s mother is named Lucia, and his Grandmother Lorraine.  See the trouble?  Too many L’s!

I want to rename Lydia.  If you receive my newsltetter (a copy of it is posted on my site), you can read an excerpt to get an idea of who you’re naming.  I’m not promising that I’ll use any of the suggested names, and I’d like only five names max. per contestant, and only one entry per contestant.  If your name’s chosen, I’ll give you a print copy of Pretend You Love Me.  If I don’t choose any of the names, then I’ll randomly choose a winner.

The contest closes April 1st, and I'll announce the winner April 6th.

So make a comment here, leave me a good e-mail address, and let me know what new name Lydia should go by!

Cynthia - I know its another C name but it was screaming at me and then you can use Cindy as a nickname or something the D-I-L taunts her with,
OR Elenor = Ellie or Elle
Helen = Elle
Virginia = Ginny
Olivia = Olive or Livie

Hope this helps and if you need more I love naming characters so feel free to e-mail me!!

L's worked for Superman and became sort of an expected part of the story-Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Lucy Lane, Lori Lemaris. If you have good names leave them, it gives the story a certain character, and you come up with names that are believable, so you might leave it, something told you to use it in the beginning and you usually have good instincts to follow.

All right, I've chosen a winner! The name grabbed me right off, and I think it fits rather well. In fact, it still sounds like Lydia, and sounds upscale without being too pretentious, which is how I view this character. The winner is - Olivia! I'll email the winner shortly.

Thanks agian, for everyone's help with this. This was rather fun. We'll have to do this again, since you all seem to name characters rather well. (Usually, they jsut tell me what they're named)

Now, to go see if Lydia minds her name change....
